The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs tries for a takedown but Escuela sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown by Jacobs or perhaps it was just good defense by Escuela which made him look bad.
Jacobs gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Escuela counters with a stiff right hand.
Chico Escuela has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Jacobs.

and Escuela connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Escuela connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jacobs. Jacobs circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Jacobs takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Escuela bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jacobs's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Brandon Jacobs has been cut.
Both fighters circling a little - Escuela finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Escuela lands a jab to the head.
Escuela scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jacobs in his tracks.

Jacobs is rocked!

Escuela cracks Jacobs with an uppercut from hell and Jacobs crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Escuela's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Jacobs is still in real trouble! Can Escuela finish him?
Escuela postures up, still in guard. A huge hammer fist lands that bounces Jacobs's head off the mat! Jacobs is out! He's out! Escuela jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Chico Escuela!
Chico Escuela looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'I wanted this fight bad since I lost my title the last time out. Its time for me to make another run at the gold! Chico.....try.....one more....agaiiiin!'.
