Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sydal scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Anderson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sydal wants to stand but Anderson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Sydal closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Sydal won't allow Anderson to sweep him here.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Sydal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Anderson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sydal.
Sydal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sydal shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Anderson sprawls well. Anderson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sydal gets slowly back to his feet.
Anderson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Anderson throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Anderson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sydal backs up against the cage.

Sydal jumps guard but Anderson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Anderson wants to break free but Sydal has control.

Sydal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Anderson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mike Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anderson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sydal manages to avoid it.
Sydal dodges the punch combination from Anderson.

Anderson is looking to stand up but Sydal isn't so interested in that idea.

Anderson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Anderson throws a half hearted mid kick.
Anderson stalks Sydal and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sydal's face. Sydal staggers backwards, shaken.
Sydal fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Sydal moves into range and clinches up with Anderson.
Sydal can't get the takedown.

Sydal's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Sydal jumps guard.
Sydal pulls Anderson in close to his closed guard and prevents Anderson from doing any damage or advancing position.

Anderson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anderson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sydal controls Anderson momentarily but Anderson frees himself.
Anderson forces his way into half guard.
Sydal regains full guard. Nicely done.
Anderson pushes down on Sydal's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Anderson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sydal wants to control but Anderson is having none of it.
Sydal keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sydal is working hard here to advance position.
Sydal is bucking up trying to escape but Anderson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Anderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Anderson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sydal closes the distance and clinches up with Anderson, looking for a takedown. Sydal pushes Anderson against the cage but Anderson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Anderson is looking for a kimura but Sydal is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Anderson to get the leverage.
Sydal has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anderson is working away from the top position though.
Anderson is trying to control. Sydal wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Anderson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sydal kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Jason Sydal overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Anderson gets to his feet - Sydal follows without any prompting.
Sydal shoots in looking for a takedown but Anderson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sydal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Sydal counters with a slapping leg kick.
Anderson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Sydal goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Anderson turns into him and now he's in Sydal's guard.

Well Sydal has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
