Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Juan Velazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velazquez's entrance music is Since the Flood- "Valor and Vengeance. A fine choice. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Pedro Alvarez enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Velazquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velazquez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alvarez.
Velazquez digs a good hook to Alvarez's body.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Alvarez gets a double leg takedown into Velazquez's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Alvarez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alvarez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Velazquez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Alvarez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Velazquez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alvarez, into his guard.
Alvarez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Alvarez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Velazquez is stalling in the full guard.

Alvarez is looking for a triangle but Velazquez pushes his legs off easily.

Alvarez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Velazquez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Velazquez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Alvarez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Alvarez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Velazquez defends well.

Velazquez stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Alvarez fails with a takedown attempt.
Juan Velazquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Alvarez.
Velazquez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alvarez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Velazquez tries to avoid it but Alvarez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Velazquez to the ground. Velazquez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Velazquez Throws a clean left jab. Velazquez Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Alvarez's chin! Alvarez crumbles to the ground and Velazquez follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Velazquez!
