Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pete Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Louie Cane!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cane uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Patterson has time to react.
Cane looks to score with a jab to the body but Patterson is just out of range.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cane paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Patterson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cane but Cane pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Patterson shoots in but Cane avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nice takedown defense from Cane. No joy for Patterson on that attempt.

Patterson looking to score a takedown here. Cane is defending well but Patterson drives through and ends up in Cane's guard.

Patterson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cane's waist but Cane gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Patterson off to one side.
Cane leaves Patterson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cane throws a nice looking combination but Patterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cane throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Louie Cane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cane looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Patterson shoots in for a takedown but Cane shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cane slaps away a takedown attempt from Patterson, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Cane stalks Patterson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Patterson's face. Patterson staggers backwards, shaken.
Cane takes a swing at Patterson's ribcage but misses.
Cane moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Cane throws a right and a left that both miss.

and Cane counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Patterson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Patterson lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Cane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cane is looking for a triangle but Patterson pushes his legs off easily.

Patterson wants to control from the top but Cane keeps moving.
Cane wants to stand up but Patterson is controlling him.
Patterson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Patterson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Patterson cracks Cane with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Cane is squirming around, avoiding Patterson's attempts to control the action.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patterson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cane stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Patterson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cane is fending him off so far but Patterson persists. Nope, Cane circles away and we're back to standing.

and Patterson counters with a single leg into guard. Cane didn't expect that.

Cane looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Patterson wants to control from the top but Cane keeps moving.
Pete Patterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cane is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Patterson drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Patterson seems to have locked his on tight now - Cane screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Patterson, as he picks up the win!
