Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sven Andersson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Master Splinter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andersson comes to the ring accompanied by Now we are free. The crowd seem to be enjoying Splinter's choice of entrance music: Ninja Tutles theme song by THROWDOWN. Sven Andersson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sven Andersson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Master Splinter!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Splinter lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Andersson clinches up against the ropes.
Splinter wants to break free but Andersson has control.
Splinter is trying to break the clinch but Andersson is controlling him.
Splinter is looking to break free of the clinch but Andersson has double underhooks.
Splinter tries to break the clinch but Andersson is controlling the position.
Splinter tries to circle away but Andersson has him pinned against the ropes.

Andersson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Splinter's efforts to push away.

Andersson jumps into guard, dragging Splinter to the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Splinter lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Master Splinter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Andersson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Splinter was covering up waiting for the punch and Andersson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Splinter is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Splinter pushes Andersson off looking to stand but Andersson dives back in and keeps control.

Andersson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Splinter to stand up.

Splinter gets tackled into the ropes by Andersson. Andersson maintains the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Andersson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Andersson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Splinter lands a slapping body shot.
Splinter scores with a nice head shot.
Master Splinter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Andersson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Splinter scores with a punch to the head.
Splinter throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Andersson on the side of the head.

Andersson moves into the clinch.

Andersson is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Splinter can't fight it off and eventually Andersson manages to take the fight to the floor. Splinter looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Splinter is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Andersson is surviving well by controlling Splinter's body position as best he can.

Splinter goes for an armbar but Andersson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Andersson.
Andersson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Splinter wants to stand but Andersson is controlling the position.
Andersson wants to pass the guard but Splinter is keeping the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Splinter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Andersson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Master Splinter will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Splinter lands with a hook. Andersson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Splinter digs a good body shot into Andersson's ribs.
Andersson throws a body kick that misses.
The crowd cheers as Splinter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Andersson doesn't seem phased though.

Andersson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Splinter to the ground. Andersson is now in Splinter's guard.
Andersson won't allow Splinter to get back to his feet.

Splinter wants to stand and escape but Andersson is having none of it.
Splinter is trying to control the position but Andersson postures up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Master Splinter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Splinter throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Andersson's head.

Splinter goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Splinter tries a head kick but it misses.
Andersson misses with a hook.
Andersson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Andersson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Splinter is out of range and Andersson settles back down.

Andersson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Splinter.
Andersson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Splinter works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Splinter ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Splinter throws a head kick that misses.

Splinter throws a combination. Andersson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Andersson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Andersson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Splinter gets caught flat footed, as Andersson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Andersson stands and steps away. Splinter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Splinter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Andersson wants to control but Splinter is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Splinter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Splinter is working for a kimura but Andersson is defending it quite comfortably.
Splinter is stalling here. Andersson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Splinter seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Andersson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Splinter is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Andersson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Master Splinter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Splinter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Andersson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Splinter, into his guard.

Splinter wants to get back to his feet but Andersson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sven Andersson.
I think Splinter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
