PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nikolo Halike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buford Tannen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nikolo Halike!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Buford Tannen!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halike keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Halike throws a quick inside leg kick.
Halike connects with a body shot that sends Tannen's belly button to the back.
Tannen fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Tannen moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A head kick misses from Halike.
Tannen throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Halike's head.
Tannen moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

It looks like Nikolo Halike has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tannen takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Halike defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tannen.
Tannen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

It looks like Buford Tannen has been cut.
The fighters circling - Halike throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Tannen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Halike's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A close round but Buford Tannen will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Halike tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Halike throws a lazy right hand but Tannen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Halike uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tannen.
Halike plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Nikolo Halike is winning the standup battle so far.
Halike scores with a shot to the body.
Tannen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tannen throws the left hand but Halike avoids the punch easily.

Halike fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Tannen is out of range.

Tannen moves into range and clinches up with Halike.
Halike misses with a hook to the ribs.
Halike is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Tannen blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Halike.
Halike tries to work over Tannen's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Halike has Tannen pressed against the cage, preventing Tannen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Halike tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Tannen's elbow.

Halike throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Tannen moves out of range of the body kick.
Halike slips a straight right by Tannen.
Halike stuns Tannen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Halike looks to land a combination. Tannen sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Tannen is rocked!
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Halike moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Tannen! Halike continues to tee off on Tannen, landing with a left and a right! Halike connects with a right hand that leaves Tannen sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Halike!
