PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Randy Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dusty Adamek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dusty Adamek will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Cote!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dusty Adamek!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cote showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Adamek.
Adamek closes the distance and clinches up with Cote, looking for a takedown. Adamek pushes Cote against the cage but Cote circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Adamek drives through with a takedown into guard.
Adamek trying to control the position from guard on top but Cote is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Adamek slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Cote parries the strikes from Adamek easily there. Adamek is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cote to escape.
Adamek tries to stand but Cote is controlling his head.
Adamek tries to stand but Cote controls the position and pulls Adamek into his guard.
Adamek won't allow Cote to get back to his feet.
Adamek wants to control from the top but Cote keeps moving.

Cote is controlling Adamek's posture.
Cote is breathing heavily.

Cote escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Adamek gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Adamek really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cote. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cote controls Adamek momentarily but Adamek frees himself.
Cote utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cote can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Adamek controls the pace.

Adamek tries to stand but Cote is controlling from the bottom.
Adamek trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dusty Adamek was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Adamek shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Cote manages to get to full guard.
Adamek must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Adamek wants to pass the guard but Cote is keeping the position.

Cote keeping moving, preventing Adamek from controlling successfully.
Adamek might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cote kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Adamek is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cote is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cote has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Some wild striking there from Adamek.
Cote with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Adamek to score with a decent uppercut.

Cote keeps control of Adamek as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Adamek wants to stand but Cote is controlling his posture from full guard.
Adamek slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Cote is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Adamek escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Adamek throws a nice looking combination but Cote bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Adamek shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cote but Cote pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Adamek shoots in looking for a takedown but Cote manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Adamek's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Randy Cote has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dusty Adamek.

Cote shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Adamek is trying to defend but Cote finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

That was a close second round but I would say that Randy Cote will probably get the nod.

Adamek tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cote was well out of range. Poor timing from Adamek.
Randy Cote is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cote has a takedown stuffed.
Cote throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Adamek's waist but Adamek gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cote off to one side.

Cote walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Adamek throws a chopping leg kick but Cote manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Dusty Adamek comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Adamek has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
