Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Ness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfred Hitchcock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Ness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alfred Hitchcock!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hitchcock changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ness tries to avoid it but Hitchcock manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ness to the ground. Ness escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ness looks to land a combination but Hitchcock avoids it well.

Ness looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hitchcock is looking for a sweep. Ness is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ness throwing shots but Hitchcock is blocking nicely.
Ness prevents Hitchcock from improving his position.
Hitchcock lands a couple of sideways elbows.

Ness seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hitchcock moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hitchcock will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Hitchcock counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Ness wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hitchcock keeps working.

Ness trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hitchcock is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hitchcock throws a strike but Ness avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Mike Ness has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alfred Hitchcock.
Hitchcock tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ness stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hitchcock swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hitchcock can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ness stands up over Hitchcock, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Hitchcock counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hitchcock.
Ness takes an elbow to the forehead.
Ness tries to break the clinch but Hitchcock is controlling the position.
Hitchcock lands with a short shot to the head.
Ness lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hitchcock backwards.

Hitchcock gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Hitchcock throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hitchcock looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Ness moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ness is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hitchcock throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ness works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Hitchcock closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ness tries to bench press Hitchcock off him but Hitchcock keeps the position.
Ness lands an elbow from the bottom.
Ness is looking for a sweep.
Ness is trying to control Hitchcock's posture but Hitchcock avoids it.

Hitchcock connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ness some visible discomfort.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hitchcock cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Alfred Hitchcock showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ness had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hitchcock is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ness Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hitchcock's back instead.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

I think Hitchcock has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
