Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Gracie has chosen Mojo - Peeping Tom as his entrance music. Aaron Gracie told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Gracie!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Penn cracks Gracie with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Penn tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gracie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Penn avoids them all with ease.
Gracie misses with a body shot.
Penn misses with a few strikes there.
Penn swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Penn moves out of range of the leg kick from Gracie.
An inside leg kick from Penn misses.

Gracie lands a right hook to the body.
Penn moves out of range of the body kick.
Penn shoots in but no luck this time.
Gracie defending well as Penn loads up on a big left hand.
Gracie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Penn.
Penn misses with a low kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Penn throws a combination that misses
and Gracie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Penn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Penn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Penn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gracie is tightening it up a little... Penn has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Penn reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Penn taps out! nice BJJ there by Gracie!
