PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kibo Mandeka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Billy Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kibo Mandeka!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean shoots in but no luck this time.
Mandeka takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Mandeka scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Mandeka tries to clinch up.
Mandeka shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dean but Dean pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mandeka tries to clinch there but Dean circles away.
Dean is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mandeka.

Mandeka gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mandeka escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dean gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mandeka had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dean is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mandeka Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dean's back instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dean tries to escape but Mandeka has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mandeka just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Dean manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mandeka's guard. Nice work there by Dean.
Dean tries to free his leg and advance position but Mandeka is retaining full guard.
Dean really is a fat lump.
Mandeka trying to control the position.
Mandeka wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mandeka tries to clinch but Dean is having none of it.
Dean fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kibo Mandeka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dean looks to land a left hand but Mandeka moved out of range nicely.
Mandeka tries to clinch but Dean is having none of it.

so Dean counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mandeka looks gassed!
Dean postures up and lands a big shot to Mandeka's brow.
Dean throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mandeka works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Dean wants to control from the top but Mandeka keeps moving.
Mandeka wants to sweep but no luck.
Dean missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dean in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Dean advances to half guard.
Dean thows a huge punch but Mandeka dodges it nicely.
Mandeka is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dean's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dean's back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dean rolls, trying to escape but Mandeka keeps control of the position.
Mandeka is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Dean. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Mandeka is looking to control Dean but Dean is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Mandeka. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Dean tries to escape but Mandeka has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Mandeka slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Mandeka has the hooks in. Dean is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Mandeka controls the position.
A lull in the action here.
Mandeka landing with strikes.

Dean is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Dean's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Dean might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mandeka lands shots from the back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mandeka controls the action.
Mandeka trying to control momentarily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mandeka misses with punches from the back.
A lull in the action here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kibo Mandeka will probably get the nod.

Mandeka wants to clinch up but Dean keeps it at a distance.
Mandeka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Dean counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Dean prevents Mandeka from improving his position.
Mandeka moves into full guard.
Dean stands and throws Mandeka's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Dean tries to advance to mount but can't.
Dean working the ground and pound.
Mandeka is breathing heavily.
Dean sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mandeka is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mandeka is looking to reverse the position.
Mandeka dodges the ground and pound from Dean.
Check out the look on Dean's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Mandeka takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Dean misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Mandeka knocks Dean out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Kibo Mandeka!
