The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brega misses with a hook to the body
and Thomas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A swing and a miss from Thomas.
Thomas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Thomas shoots and misses
and Brega holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Brega misses with some punches.
Brega throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Thomas has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Brega after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Din Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brega pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Brega throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Thomas blocks it with crossed arms.
Brega lands an elbow just above Thomas 's eye.
It looks like Din Thomas has been cut.
Thomas takes a knee to the side of the body.

Brega misses with a body punch.
Thomas takes an elbow to the forehead.
Brega gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Brega stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Brega tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Thomas avoids it.
Thomas drops down looking for an ankle pick but Brega pulls his leg out and moves away.
Thomas scores with a takedown into Brega's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Brega lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Thomas!

Thomas bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Thomas is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Thomas wants to pass the guard but Brega is keeping the position.
Brega really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thomas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Thomas wants to control from the top but Brega keeps moving.

Thomas stalling away here and it's allowed Brega to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Thomas is looking for a triangle but Brega pushes his legs off easily.
Thomas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brega gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brega avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Thomas is looking for a triangle here but Brega uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thomas pushes Brega away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Brega gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brega lands a strong strike to the head of Thomas. That's dazed him! Brega looking to finish here. Thomas is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Brega lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Antonio Brega!
Antonio Brega is the new middleweight champion!
A relieved looking Antonio Brega thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
