PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boris Balkan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Huima Kostaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Balkan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Kosovo is Serbia. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kostaja shoots in looking for a takedown but Balkan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kostaja's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kostaja misses with a few strikes there.
A big right from Balkan misses.
Kostaja fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kostaja will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kostaja throws a lazy head kick
and Balkan counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Huima Kostaja has been cut.
Kostaja takes a swing at Balkan's ribcage but misses.
Balkan throws a hook but Kostaja avoids it easily.

Balkan darts in and clinches Kostaja up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kostaja tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Balkan smiles and moves away.
Kostaja stuns Balkan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kostaja fails in his attempt to clinch.

Balkan closes the distance and clinches.
Balkan swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Balkan lands a right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Balkan gets underhooks to prevent Kostaja's takedown attempt.
Boris Balkan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Huima Kostaja.
A head punch on the inside from Balkan fails to land.
A shot in the inside from Balkan.
Balkan throws a punch but it's blocked by Kostaja.
Kostaja makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kostaja tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Balkan just stands there and leans against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Kostaja fails to land.
Kostaja is trying to maintain a safe position but Balkan gets an underhook and turns Kostaja into the cage.
Kostaja tries a knee to the head but Balkan blocks it.
Balkan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Kostaja breaks the clinch.

Balkan cracks Kostaja with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kostaja looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Balkan finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Balkan loads up on a big right hand but Kostaja slips the punch.
Kostaja fails with a takedown attempt.
Balkan waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kostaja.
Nice body kick there by Balkan.
Kostaja looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Balkan throws a half hearted mid kick.
Kostaja walks into a stiff left hand from Balkan.

The cut above Huima Kostaja's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Balkan drops Kostaja with a big left hand! Kostaja is injured, injured bad! Balkan jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Boris Balkan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
