Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Big Ben!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez slaps away a takedown attempt from Ben, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ben has his takedown stuffed
and Velasquez counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Big Ben has been cut.

Ben has taken the fight to the clinch.
Velasquez gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ben.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Big Ben. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Velasquez has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ben is trying to keep an underhook but Velasquez manages to get the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velasquez working the head and body with strikes.
Velasquez is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Ben on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ben tries to get out of the position.
Ben wants to control but Velasquez is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Velasquez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ben with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Velasquez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ben is looking for a sweep. Velasquez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Velasquez scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Velasquez is nestled in close to Ben, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.


Ben is rocked!
Velasquez lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Ben quite badly. Ben pulls Velasquez in close trying to recover. Velasquez postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Ben on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Ben doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
