The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flauta shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
Flauta shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Flauta moves out of range easily.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Flauta.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Smith pushes Flauta away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Flauta gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
