PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blade Toorop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Scope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Toorop comes to the cage accompanied by Rasputin. The crowd seem to be enjoying Scope's choice of entrance music: Marry the Canvas!. Blade Toorop could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Michael Scope's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blade Toorop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Scope!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toorop shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Scope counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Scope controls the position.

Scope swings around for an armbar but Toorop sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Scope's guard.
Toorop trying to control but Scope is working from the bottom.
Toorop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scope swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Toorop postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Scope is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Toorop, into his guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Toorop keeping moving, preventing Scope from controlling successfully.

Scope content to stall in guard here.
Toorop will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Scope trying to control but Toorop is working from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Michael Scope hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Toorop fails to land the takedown.

Scope fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Toorop sprawls well initially but Scope persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Scope is keen to just control but Toorop is a slippery customer.

Scope is working for a kimura but Toorop is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Toorop is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Scope wants to control from the top but Toorop keeps moving.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Scope shoots in looking for a takedown. Toorop tries to sprawl out of it but Scope keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Toorop manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Scope tries to score a power double leg takedown but Toorop sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scope somewhat.

Toorop closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Toorop is trying to control the action in half guard but Scope is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Toorop is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Scope wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Toorop in particular looking to stall.

Scope is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Blade Toorop dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Scope misses with a takedown attempt - Toorop sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Scope displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Toorop.
Scope wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Scope looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Toorop wants to get back to full guard.
Scope content to control rather than advance.
Scope wants to lay and pray for a moment but Toorop keeps working.
Scope controlling the pace.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Toorop looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Scope wants to take a breather but Toorop is having none of it.
Toorop is trying to maintain the position but Scope is very close to passing his half guard.
Scope is trying to control. Toorop wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Scope is looking to stall here but Toorop recovers full guard.
Toorop looking for a sweep. Not yet Toorop, not yet.

Scope postures up.
Scope slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Michael Scope.
Scope throws a series of punches but Toorop moves out of range.
Toorop lands a jab.

Scope shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Toorop controlling the position well.
Scope works his way into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Toorop is not content to let Scope control the position.

Scope wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Toorop, who protects the arm well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Scope is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Toorop is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Scope comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Scope has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Michael Scope opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
