PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francis Troy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Troy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Breaking Bad - Goodbye. Francis Troy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Christopher Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Francis Troy!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Troy lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Troy missing with a left hand there. Ryan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Troy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ryan was well out of range. Poor timing from Troy.
Troy leaves Ryan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Troy lands a nice looking body shot.
Troy turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Nice straight punches there by Troy. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Troy.

Troy throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ryan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Ryan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Troy just misses with a punch to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Troy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ryan manages to avoid it.

Troy connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Troy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Troy throws an overhand right that lands on Ryan's shoulder, as Ryan tries to avoid the shot.
Troy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ryan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Troy.
Ryan avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Troy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Troy throws out a loose jab but Ryan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Troy wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Troy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ryan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ryan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Troy throws a body punch but Ryan moves out of range.

Ryan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ryan shoots in but Troy avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Troy fakes the leg kick and cracks Ryan in the body.
Troy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Troy.

Ryan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Troy throws a jab but it's blocked by Ryan.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Troy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Ryan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Troy lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Troy bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Ryan might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Ryan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

A solid body kick from Troy.
Troy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ryan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ryan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Francis Troy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ryan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Troy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Troy is trying to control Ryan's posture but Ryan avoids it.

Ryan wants to control but Troy is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Christopher Ryan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
No luck for Ryan with that takedown attempt.
Ryan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Ryan has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Troy.
Troy looks to land a right hand but Ryan moved out of range.

Ryan is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Ryan looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Ryan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Troy swivels and escapes.

Troy scores with a one two! Ryan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Ryan drops his hands momentarily and Troy takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Troy thows a body shot but no joy.
Troy feints and then cracks Ryan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ryan down.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Troy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Troy wants it to stay on the feet.
Troy goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Troy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ryan was well out of range. Poor timing from Troy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Horrible takedown by Ryan or perhaps it was just good defense by Troy which made him look bad.

Francis Troy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Troy winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
