The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGregor goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
McGregor moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.
McGregor tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed right hand from Smith misses the target.
Smith keeps the fight on the outside.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McGregor manages to avoid it.
McGregor swings for the body but Smith moves out of range.
Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McGregor closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
McGregor shoots in but no luck this time.
Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McGregor circles away quickly and effectively.
McGregor fails with the takedown

and Smith counters with a single leg into guard. McGregor didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William McGregor. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Smith decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on McGregor, up you get!
This has been an exciting period of action!
McGregor tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
McGregor drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by McGregor.
Smith misses the shot to the body.

Smith moves into the clinch successfully.
McGregor tries to land knees in the clinch but Smith avoids the damage to the body.

McGregor prevents Smith from breaking the clinch.
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smith on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Smith tries to circle away but McGregor has him pinned against the cage.

Smith pulls guard.
McGregor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
McGregor looking to slow down the pace here.
McGregor lands an elbow inside that Smith shrugs off.
Smith dodges an elbow strike from McGregor.

McGregor pulls Smith into guard.

McGregor is looking to sinch up a triangle. Smith throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to McGregor's body to avoid the submission. McGregor has instead reached around Smith's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! McGregor arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
