Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Elias Laiho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Mendez Papillion!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, William Gold and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papillion throws a nice outside leg kick.
Papillion keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Papillion takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Laiho takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Laiho blocks a head kick by Papillion.
Papillion throws a left and a right that both miss
and Laiho counters with a straight right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Papillion moves out of range as Laiho strikes.
A low kick from Laiho misses
and Papillion counters with a left and a right that stings Laiho.
Papillion misses with a lunging right hand
letting Laiho counter with a right hand.
Mendez Papillion seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Papillion throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
No joy there for Papillion, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Laiho waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Papillion.
Papillion lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Laiho circles away quickly and effectively.
Papillion tries to clinch there but Laiho circles away.
Papillion connects with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Papillion misses with a wild combination.
Laiho lands with a thumping leg kick.
Papillion keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Laiho misses with a leg kick.
Papillion ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Laiho moves away.
Papillion swinging wildly here.
Good leg kick by Laiho there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Papillion misses with a looping left.
A left and a right from Papillion both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Elias Laiho has been cut.
Laiho buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Laiho stuns Papillion with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Laiho clobbers Papillion with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Papillion throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Laiho counters with an outside leg kick.
Papillion looks gassed!
Laiho darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Papillion is rocked!
Laiho ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Papillion's jaw. Papillion's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Laiho does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Elias Laiho!
After winning the bout, Elias Laiho thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
