Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marty Van Buren!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Buren throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Van Buren rushes Kennedy and presses him up against the cage.
Van Buren tries to land a knee to the head but Kennedy blocks with his arms.
Van Buren pushes Kennedy back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Kennedy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Van Buren tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kennedy throws a lazy head kick

and Van Buren counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Van Buren.
Van Buren throws a knee to the head but misses.

Van Buren breaks the clinch.
Van Buren tries to clinch there but Kennedy circles away.
Van Buren bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Van Buren throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick by Van Buren misses
and Kennedy counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Van Buren throws a sloppy head kick and Kennedy moves out of range easily.

Van Buren connects with a solid leg kick.
Van Buren closes the distance but Kennedy moves to the side

and Kennedy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Van Buren's guard now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Kennedy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kennedy drops back looking for a leg! Van Buren is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Van Buren manages to kick Kennedy off! Kennedy jumps back into Van Buren's guard.
Kennedy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kennedy stops Van Buren from standing up.
Van Buren avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kennedy is looking to work some ground and pound but Van Buren has wrist control.
Kennedy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Van Buren pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A nice combination there by Kennedy.
Van Buren shoots and misses
and Kennedy counters with a leg kick.
Kennedy is breathing heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Van Buren checks a leg kick.
Van Buren tries to clinch
and Kennedy counters with a one-two to the body.
Van Buren goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Kennedy circles away from the clinch attempt

and Kennedy counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kennedy tries to break the clinch but Van Buren is controlling the position.
Kennedy can't break the clinch.

Van Buren breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kennedy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kennedy blocks a head kick by Van Buren.
Van Buren tries to clinch but Kennedy moves away

and Kennedy counters with a shoot takedown. Van Buren fights it but they end up in guard.

Kennedy stands up from Van Buren's guard - Kennedy perhaps looking for a knockout.
Van Buren connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Kennedy listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Van Buren wants to clinch
and Kennedy counters with a right hand to the body.
Van Buren lands a brutal head kick. Kennedy looks out on his feet and Van Buren throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
