PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lance Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Storm comes to the cage accompanied by Ronald Jenkees - Disorganized Fun. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lance Storm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Pierce!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Storm is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pierce's half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Storm throwing shots but Pierce is blocking nicely.
Storm prevents Pierce from standing back up.
Storm perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Storm stops Pierce from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Storm keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Storm changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pierce tries to avoid it but Storm manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pierce to the ground. Pierce escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Storm shoots in but Pierce avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lance Storm. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Storm counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Pierce wants to stand and escape but Storm is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Storm shoots in for a takedown but Pierce shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A head kick from Pierce lands but Storm takes it in his stride.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Storm shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pierce pinned against the cage. Pierce gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pierce looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Storm fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pierce to the ground. Storm is now in Pierce's guard.

Pierce wants to get back to his feet but Storm is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lance Storm.
Pierce tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Storm paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Storm drives through with a takedown into guard.
Storm won't allow Pierce to get back to his feet.

Pierce wants to get back to his feet but Storm passes into half guard.
Pierce pushes Storm off looking to stand but Storm dives back in and keeps control.
Storm knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pierce on the ground.
Pierce manages to get to full guard.
Storm is looking to work some ground and pound but Pierce has wrist control.
Pierce wants to stand but Storm is controlling the position.

Storm content to stall in guard here.
Pierce is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Storm is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Lance Storm just wasn't active enough.
Storm looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pierce is fending him off so far but Storm persists. Nope, Pierce circles away and we're back to standing.
Pierce tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Storm paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Storm bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Pierce wants to clinch but Storm slips to the side

and Storm counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pierce's guard now.
Pierce not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Lance Storm wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Storm shoots in and drives through. Pierce sprawls well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Storm avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alex Pierce seems to be getting the better of the standup.
