Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jaakko Parantainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Parsons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jaakko Parantainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Parsons!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parantainen darts in and clinches Parsons up against the cage.
Parantainen really is a fat lump.
Parantainen swings wildly with an uppercut but Parsons uses good head movement to avoid it.
A head punch on the inside from Parantainen fails to land.
Parsons is trying to force a seperation but Parantainen has the dominant position.

Parsons breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Parsons blocks a head kick by Parantainen.
Parsons blocks the body kick.
Parsons dives in and grabs Parantainen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Parantainen pushes down on Parsons's head and hops out.
Parsons blocks a jab.

Parantainen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Parsons, pushing him back against the cage.
Parsons blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Parantainen stalling in the clinch.
Parsons fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Parantainen scores with a hook to the body. Parsons takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Parsons tries to keep at a distance but Parantainen has taken the fight into the clinch.

Parantainen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Parsons to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Parsons wants to control from the top but Parantainen keeps moving.

Parantainen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Parsons stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parantainen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Parsons won't allow Parantainen to sweep him here.
Parsons distracts Parantainen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Parsons is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Parantainen is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Parantainen has escaped and now he's on top!

Parsons is looking for a triangle but Parantainen pushes his legs off easily.

Parantainen decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Parsons, up you get!

Jaakko Parantainen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Parsons throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parantainen's waist but Parantainen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Parsons off to one side.

Parsons's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Parsons takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Parantainen tries a head kick but it misses.
Parantainen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Parantainen lunges at Parsons with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Parsons's hand.
Parantainen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Parantainen tries a head kick but it misses.
Parantainen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Parantainen wants it to stay on the feet.
Parantainen throws a good cross that connects.
Parsons tries for a takedown but Parantainen circles away easily
and Parantainen counters with a big head kick but Parsons shrugs it off.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Parantainen closes the distance and pushes Parsons back into the cage.
Parsons has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Parantainen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Parantainen lands a body punch in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Parsons feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Parsons drops back, looking for a kneebar! Parantainen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Parantainen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Parantainen!
Parsons has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Parsons is breathing heavily.
Parantainen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Parsons keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Parantainen stands up.
Parsons shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Parantainen as he jumps to the side.

Parsons is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
