Penguin has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paddy Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 57 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, King Penguin!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Barnes.


It looks like King Penguin has been cut.
Penguin looks gassed!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barnes gets a double leg takedown into Penguin's guard.
Barnes working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Penguin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barnes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Barnes looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Barnes gets to his feet. Penguin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Barnes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Penguin's guard.

That has opened up King Penguin's cut even more.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barnes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Barnes postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Barnes stays in close to Penguin's body and controls the position.

Barnes gets to his feet - Penguin follows without any prompting.

Barnes drives through and clinches with Penguin against the cage.

Barnes lands a takedown into guard.
Barnes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Barnes stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Barnes shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Penguin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Barnes is pushing down on Penguin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Penguin is fighting to maintain full guard but Barnes has managed to sneak the leg through.

Barnes has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Penguin defend it? Barnes steps over the head and cranks it - Penguin is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Barnes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paddy Barnes!
