Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jan Evers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Evers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonathan Silva!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evers closes the distance looking to clinch

and Silva moves into the clinch.

Silva has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Evers is trying to keep an underhook but Silva manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Evers trying to control from the bottom.
Silva wants to take a breather but Evers is having none of it.

Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Evers defends it well.
Silva not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Evers trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.
Silva prevents Evers from standing back up.

Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Evers is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold.

Silva is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Evers sees it coming and defends easily.
Evers is looking to escape.
Evers wants to sweep but Silva has passed to side control!

Silva tries for a kimura but Evers is defending well.
Silva looks gassed!
Evers tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Evers is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Evers works his way to full guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evers controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.
Evers has control of Silva's left arm, preventing Silva from doing any damage.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Evers is keeping the position.
Evers looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Evers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Evers controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jan Evers wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Silva darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Evers regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Silva.

Evers looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Silva with a flurry of punches that miss.

Evers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A close round but Jonathan Silva will probably get the nod.

Silva walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Evers swivels and escapes.

Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there.
Evers is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Evers tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.

Evers is defending against the submission attempts here by Silva.
Evers manages to get to full guard.

Evers is looking to sweep but instead, Silva has passed into half guard.
Silva trying to control from half guard but Evers is working away.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Evers is defending well.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Evers keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Silva wants to work for an arm triangle but Evers is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Silva is looking for a kimura but Evers is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage.
Evers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Evers manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Evers has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Evers wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment.
Silva throws a strike but Evers rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Evers gets to his feet - Silva follows without any prompting.

Evers closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Silva's guard.

Silva is trying to hold Evers in close to prevent damage but Evers has managed to pass into half guard.

Silva wants to control but Evers is keeping busy.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Evers uses his free foot to push down on Silva's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Silva.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jan Evers dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Evers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silva is fending him off so far but Evers persists. Nope, Silva circles away and we're back to standing.

Silva tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Silva is trying to trip Evers. He has hold of a leg but Evers is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Silva persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Evers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Evers throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Evers looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Silva puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Evers wants to get back to full guard.
Evers blocking the ground and pound attempt from Silva.
Evers wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.
Jan Evers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Silva is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Evers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.

Evers is concentrating on defense, preventing Silva from advancing position.

Evers looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Evers is pressing down on Silva's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Evers dives on top into guard.
Evers trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.
Evers throws a big right hand that misses.

Evers controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Evers won't allow Silva to sweep him here.

Evers drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Evers off! Evers jumps back into Silva's guard.
Evers is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.

Evers decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!
Evers throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Evers fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Silva sprawls well initially but Evers persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Evers is trying to control. Silva wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Evers seems to be looking for submissions.
Evers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
Evers content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Evers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
