Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lenny Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: Bangarang. Chris Jones will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lenny Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Jones!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.
Martin throws a leg kick which misses Jones's front leg but catches the back leg as Jones tries to avoid it.
Jones misses with a right hand
and Martin counters with a low kick, right behind Jones 's knee.
Martin throws a low kick but it's checked well by Jones.
Jones throws a hook but Martin blocks it.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Martin.
Lenny Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Martin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Martin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Martin prevents Jones from standing back up.
Jones won't allow Martin to pass to mount.
Martin wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it.

Martin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
Martin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Lenny Martin just wasn't active enough.
A telegraphed right hand from Jones misses the target.
A solid body kick from Martin.
Martin throws a leg kick that misses.
Martin misses with a head kick.

Jones takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A big right from Jones misses.
A low kick from Martin misses
and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Martin connects with a jab.
Martin tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jones is able to avoid easily.
Martin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.
Martin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jones on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Martin. Martin obviously looking to wear him down.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Martin ducks under a wild hook from Jones.
Martin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Martin dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Martin's head and hops out.

Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Martin misses with a body kick.
Martin misses with a low kick.
Martin with a lazy takedown attempt
and Jones counters with a good low kick that Martin was not able to check.

Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Martin throws a sloppy head kick
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.
Martin bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Martin misses with a low kick.
Martin fails with a takedown attempt.
Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Martin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jones checks the leg kick nicely there.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Martin has hold of Jones's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jones manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Martin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A nice inside leg kick there by Martin. That's going to slow Jones down.
Jones chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Martin can pounce on him.
Lenny Martin is winning the standup battle so far.
Martin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away.
Martin throws a low kick but Jones moves out of range easily.
Martin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Martin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jones doesn't seem bothered though.

Jones on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Martin does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Jones loads up on a big right hand but Martin slips the punch.
Nice shot lands for Jones.
Jones throws a shot from downtown. Martin moves away and avoids it.
Martin scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Jones is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Jones misses with a wild body shot.
Jones checks a leg kick.
Martin throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Martin finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Martin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Martin persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Chris Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Martin fails with the takedown.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Martin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Jones tries to escape but Martin is in control.
You can see the frustration on Jones's face as Martin controls the position.

Martin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jones, who protects the arm well.
Jones is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Martin asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Martin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Martin tries to move to mount but Jones blocks the move with his legs.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jones wants to get back to his feet but Martin drags him back down.
Martin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Martin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lenny Martin dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
Jones's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Martin throws a head kick that misses.

Jones tries to sprawl but Martin drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Martin moves into full mount! Jones won't be happy about that!

Martin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.

Martin is working for a guillotine from mount but Jones frees his head quite easily.

Martin wants to finish this one by submission but Jones is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Martin.

Chris Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Martin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Lenny Martin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Martin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
