Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tom Putnam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arana Hooke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arana Hooke is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putnam uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hooke.
Putnam misses with a wild combination.
Hooke fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Putnam has closed the distance and engaged Hooke in a clinch.
Putnam lands a shot to the body.
Hooke wants to get back to striking at distance but Putnam won't allow it.
Putnam escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hooke misses with a series of wild punches.
Hooke throws a right hand that Putnam ducks under and follows up with a left that Putnam also avoids with ease.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Putnam accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Putnam has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hooke looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Putnam ducks right into an uppercut from Hooke.
Hooke tries a head kick but it misses.
Putnam closes the distance and clinches up with Hooke, looking for a takedown. Putnam pushes Hooke against the cage but Hooke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hooke is looking for a sweep. Putnam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hooke ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Putnam moves away.
A nice combination there by Putnam.
Putnam throws a head kick but Hooke moves out of range.
Arana Hooke is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Putnam closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Putnam lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hooke has a closed guard, preventing Putnam from standing up.
Putnam sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hooke's guard.

Putnam is looking for a kimura but Hooke is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Putnam to get the leverage.
Hooke is trying to stand back up but Putnam is controlling him
Putnam passes the guard and advances to mount!

Putnam sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Putnam looking to finish Hooke with some ground and pound. This is bad for Hooke!
Putnam jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hooke manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Putnam looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Hooke is avoiding damage well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Putnam lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Hooke can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Putnam and Hooke drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Putnam.
