Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Steinbrenner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Locken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eric Steinbrenner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Locken!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steinbrenner moves in looking to clinch but Locken pushes him off.
Locken shoots in looking for a takedown. Steinbrenner tries to sprawl out of it but Locken keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Steinbrenner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Steinbrenner could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Steinbrenner takes one on the button.
Steinbrenner leaves Locken with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Locken as Steinbrenner shoots in.
Locken closes the distance and clinches up with Steinbrenner, looking for a takedown. Locken pushes Steinbrenner against the cage but Steinbrenner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Locken scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Steinbrenner throws a chopping leg kick but Locken manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Steinbrenner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Locken swats him away and circles back towards the center.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Eric Steinbrenner will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Steinbrenner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Locken moves away.

Locken stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Locken wants it to stay on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Locken or perhaps it was just good defense by Steinbrenner which made him look bad.

Steinbrenner has Locken pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Steinbrenner pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Locken tumbling to the mat - Steinbrenner dives into Locken's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
