Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Laranja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Igor Duarte has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Igor Duarte seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Laranja!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte shoots in for a takedown but Laranja shows good takedown defense.
Duarte shoots in and drives through. Laranja sprawls well.
Laranja scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Laranja tries to bum rush Duarte with a series of wild strikes but Duarte uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Duarte moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Duarte closes this distance looking for a takedown but Laranja circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Igor Duarte. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Duarte stuffs the takedown attempt from Laranja. Laranja gets slowly back to his feet.
Duarte fails with the takedown.

Duarte feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Laranja is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Laranja had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Duarte defends it easily.
Duarte wants to control from the top but Laranja keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Duarte is posturing up here but Laranja has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Duarte tries to roll out but it's too tight and Duarte has to tap! Slick submission there by Laranja!

After the fight, Renato Laranja was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
