Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Diogo Pinto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pinto comes to the cage accompanied by Do you really want to hurt me. Alves has chosen Carl Orff - Carmina Burana - André Rieu's version as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Diogo Pinto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alves lands a jab.
Alves shoots in for a double leg but Pinto sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Alves will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alves ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Alves walks into a straight right hand from Pinto.
Pinto tries to close the distance and clinch but Alves swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Alves throws a nice looking combination but Pinto bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alves is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pinto.
Pinto drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pinto is working Alves over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Pinto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alves swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pinto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pinto is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Alves dives into side control.

A left and a right from Alves both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Diogo Pinto has been cut.
Pinto keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Alves misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pinto ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Pinto scores with a kick to the midsection.
Pinto pushes Alves up against the cage in a clinch.
Pinto unloads a knee to the mid-section. Alves lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Alves wants to break free but Pinto has control.
Alves looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Pinto turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Pinto advances nicely into full mount.
Pinto trying to control but Alves is having none of it.
Diogo Pinto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pinto is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Alves can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves is looking to improve his position but Pinto isn't that keen on the idea.

Pinto can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alves is looking to escape.
Alves sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Pinto wants to free his trapped foot but Alves is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Pinto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alves keeps working.
Pinto seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
