Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva drives through with a takedown into guard.

Reed trying to keep a closed guard but Silva is proving a slippery customer.

Silva has gone for a leg lock! Reed slips out almost immediately though and dives into Silva's guard.
Silva is breathing heavily.

Silva has his foot on Reed's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reed works his way back into a safe position though.

Reed passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Reed is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Reed decides to stand up, so the ref orders Silva to his feet.

Reed looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Reed not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reed works his way into full mount!

Silva slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Silva makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Silva.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reed is one step ahead there.
Reed stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reed decides to stand back up.
Silva has his takedown stuffed

so Reed counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Reed lands a couple of digs.
Silva tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Silva keeping moving, preventing Reed from controlling successfully.
Reed wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Reed thows a big elbow that misses.

and Reed counters with a shoot takedown. Silva fights it but they end up in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Silva sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Reed's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Reed dives on top into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reed controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

Reed is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Well, if Reed is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Silva is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Reed's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Reed's back!

Silva seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Reed's chin but Reed turns very nicely into Silva's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Reed.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Reed is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Silva Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Reed's back instead.

Reed rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Reed is controlling Silva's trapped leg to prevent Silva from advancing to side control.
Reed is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Silva not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Reed tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Reed is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Reed avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Reed is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Reed clinches but Silva breaks the clinch

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown. Reed fights it but they end up in guard.

Silva wants to pass the guard but Reed is keeping the position.

Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Reed takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
