Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepe Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jackson keeps the fight on the outside.
Pain tries to close the distance and clinch but Jackson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Pain is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.
Pain is refusing to be controlled, as Jackson sits in half guard.
Jackson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are battling for position here. Pain manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pain lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!
Pain throws some wild stikes that Jackson manages to avoid easily.

Pain sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Pain wants to finish this one by submission but Jackson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pain.

Jackson bucks Pain off and manages to get back to his feet!

Pain shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pain showed some decent athleticism there.
Pain is taking a breather. Jackson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Pain takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Pain is looking to stall here but Jackson recovers full guard.
Pain wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Pain postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Pain stands and steps away. Jackson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Pain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pain is nestled in close to Jackson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Pain is trying to work for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.

Pain is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jackson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pain.

and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch.
Jackson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pain jumps into guard, dragging Jackson to the mat.
Pain bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.
Pain stays in close to Jackson's body and controls the position.

Pain decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jackson, up you get!
Pain tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pain will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Pain closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pain lands in his opponent's guard.
Jackson has a closed guard, preventing Pain from standing up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
A left and a right from Jackson both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Chris Pain has been cut.
Nice sprawl there from Jackson as Pain shoots in.
Jackson throws the kick towards the body but Pain avoids it.

Jackson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jackson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pain tries to clinch there but Jackson circles away.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Pain is pressing down on Jackson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jackson is holding on for now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
