PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yotu Makimbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dong Donggler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yotu Makimbo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dong Donggler!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donggler throws a right hand that Makimbo ducks under and follows up with a left that Makimbo also avoids with ease.
Makimbo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Donggler is looking to clinch.
Makimbo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Makimbo lands a jab to the nose.
Donggler cracks a nice hook into Makimbo's ribs.

Donggler pushes Makimbo up against the cage in a clinch.

Donggler has hold of one of Makimbo's legs. Makimbo is fighting the takedown attempt but Donggler gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Donggler throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Donggler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Makimbo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Donggler stands and throws Makimbo's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Makimbo is trying to get back to half guard.
Donggler is working Makimbo over with some ground and pound from side control.

Donggler is looking to take a break and control but Makimbo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Makimbo sneaks back into half guard.
Donggler is keen to just control but Makimbo is a slippery customer.
Donggler trying to pass the guard but Makimbo defending well.
Makimbo is trying to get back to full guard.
Makimbo is breathing heavily.
Donggler stalling.
Makimbo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Donggler is working away from the top position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Donggler thows a huge punch but Makimbo dodges it nicely.
Donggler lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Makimbo is looking for a sweep. Donggler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Donggler clinches with his opponent.
Donggler tries to break the clinch but Makimbo is controlling the position.
Makimbo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Donggler wants a takedown.
Donggler tries to pull guard but Makimbo holds him up against the cage and eventually Donggler drops back down to his feet.

Donggler gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Donggler is keen to just control but Makimbo is a slippery customer.
Makimbo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Makimbo wants to control but Donggler is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Makimbo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Donggler thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Donggler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Makimbo keeps working.
Makimbo tries to get to full guard but Donggler has control of the leg.

Donggler decides to return to a standing position.
Makimbo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Donggler's waist but Donggler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Makimbo off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yotu Makimbo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Donggler gets the takedown into side control.
Makimbo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Makimbo tries to roll over but Donggler keeps him under control.
Donggler with the ground and pound but Makimbo uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Donggler in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Donggler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Makimbo tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Makimbo looking for a guillotine here but Donggler defends easily.

Makimbo is trying to keep Donggler in close.
Donggler cracks Makimbo with a solid left hand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Donggler postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Makimbo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Donggler, into his guard.
Donggler is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dong Donggler dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Donggler tries to land a front kick but Makimbo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Makimbo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Donggler moves into range and connects with a jab.
Donggler fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Makimbo is out of range.

Makimbo tries to keep at a distance but Donggler has taken the fight into the clinch.

Makimbo pulls guard successfully.
Donggler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Donggler working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Donggler won't allow Makimbo to sweep him here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Donggler trying to control but Makimbo is working from the bottom.
Makimbo wants to stand up but Donggler is controlling him.
Donggler keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Makimbo's head.

Donggler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Makimbo is rocked!
Donggler content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Oh Makimbo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Donggler's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Donggler is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Donggler stands and throws Makimbo's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Donggler in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Makimbo looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Donggler turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
