Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thien Dinh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baek Do San (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thien Dinh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Baek Do San!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Do San closes the distance and clinches.
Dinh is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Do San gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dinh's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Dinh thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Do San is looking to stand up but Dinh isn't so interested in that idea.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dinh fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Do San throws a series of punches but Dinh avoids them all with ease.

and Dinh decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Do San's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dinh postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Do San tries to roll over but Dinh keeps him under control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Do San doesn't manage to clinch there - Dinh circles away.
Do San throws a low kick but it's checked well by Dinh.

and Dinh counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Dinh drops back, looking for a kneebar! Do San looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Do San looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Do San!
Dinh is breathing heavily.
Dinh is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Do San off and has taken his back!
Do San looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

so Dinh counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Do San avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Dinh scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Do San looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dinh trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Do San has momentary wrist control but Dinh slips an elbow through the middle.
Dinh forces his way into half guard.
Do San looks like he's trying to stand up.

Dinh wants to pass to mount but Do San is defending the position.

Dinh looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dinh is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dinh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Do San is trying to get back to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dinh is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Dinh seems to be working for a kimura but Do San defends the submission attempt.
Dinh trying to control from half guard but Do San is working away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Horrible takedown by Dinh or perhaps it was just good defense by Do San which made him look bad.
Do San throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dinh.


It looks like Thien Dinh has been cut.
Do San wants to clinch

and Dinh counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Do San!
Do San is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Dinh jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Do San is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Do San and Dinh has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Do San is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Dinh trying to control the position but Do San is working away.
Dinh misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Do San gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Do San is desperately trying to improve his position but Dinh has a good base and remains in mount.

Dinh closes the distance and clinches up with Do San, looking for a takedown. Dinh pushes Do San against the cage but Do San circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Do San takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dinh is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Do San is just riding it out for now. Dinh eventually gives up the hold.

Dinh is trying to work for a kimura but Do San is defending well.
Dinh looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dinh missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Dinh is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Do San!
Do San is bucking up trying to escape but Dinh cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Do San wants to control but Dinh is having none of it.
Do San really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dinh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee warns Do San that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Dinh has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Do San's face.
Dinh trying to control but Do San is having none of it.

Do San tries to lock up and control but Dinh gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Dinh throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Dinh goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Do San is on top in guard.
Do San wants to get up but he can't break Dinh's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dinh controls Do San momentarily but Do San frees himself.
Do San tries to free his leg and advance position but Dinh is retaining full guard.
Dinh has a closed guard, preventing Do San from standing up.
Dinh keeping moving, preventing Do San from controlling successfully.
Baek Do San has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dinh tries to land a sweep but no joy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Thien Dinh showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dinh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
