PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damian Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jessie Cander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzalez comes to the cage accompanied by Paranoia. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cander throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gonzalez.

Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gonzalez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Gonzalez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cander is now in Gonzalez's guard. A big mistake from Gonzalez there, giving up the dominant position!

Gonzalez gets to his feet. Cander looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Gonzalez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cander jabs Gonzalez to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Gonzalez shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Cander eats them both and turns towards Gonzalez to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Gonzalez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cander circles away quickly and effectively.
Gonzalez misses with a double jab.
Cander ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A head kick misses from Cander.
Gonzalez scores with a head kick. Cander tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Cander checks a leg kick nicely.
Cander lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cander.

Cander throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gonzalez throws the left hand but Cander avoids the punch easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cander tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gonzalez smiles and moves away.

Cander misses with a straight left.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Cander thuds a left hand into Gonzalez's body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cander, as that shot connected.

Cander throws a sloppy head kick and Gonzalez moves out of range easily.
Gonzalez bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Gonzalez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gonzalez tries to bum rush Cander with a series of wild strikes but Cander uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cander swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Cander tries to keep at a distance but Gonzalez has taken the fight into the clinch.

Gonzalez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cander can't fight it off and eventually Gonzalez manages to take the fight to the floor. Cander looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Damian Gonzalez just wasn't active enough.

Gonzalez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cander on the ground.

Cander is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gonzalez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gonzalez shrugs it off.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Cander gets tackled into the cage by Gonzalez. Gonzalez maintains the clinch.

Gonzalez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cander changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gonzalez tries to avoid it but Cander manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gonzalez to the ground. Gonzalez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Cander takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cander lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Gonzalez takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Gonzalez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Gonzalez throws a right hand that Cander ducks under and follows up with a left that Cander also avoids with ease.

Well Gonzalez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Damian Gonzalez rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
