PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Alan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willian Adama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adama has chosen Lado B Lado A as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Alan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Willian Adama!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Adama shoots in for a takedown but Alan shows good takedown defense.

Alan moves into the clinch.
Alan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Adama.
Adama changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Alan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
James Alan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willian Adama.
Alan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Adama as he jumps to the side.
Adama throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alan.
Alan missing with a left hand there. Adama was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Adama throws a series of punches but Alan avoids them all with ease.
Adama shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Alan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Adama wants to get back to his feet but Alan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Alan wants to control from the top but Adama keeps moving.

Alan won't allow Adama to sweep him here.
Adama looks gassed!
Alan forces his way into half guard.
Adama tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Adama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Adama wants to get back to full guard.

Alan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Adama trying to hold on to Alan's head to control him but Alan postures up.
Adama is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Adama wants to control but Alan is keeping busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Adama can do anything to dispel that myth.
Alan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Alan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Adama in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Alan looking for a guillotine from mount but Adama is having none of it.
Adama regains half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Adama trying to control but Alan postures up.
Alan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Adama is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Alan blocks the strikes from Adama.
Alan prevents Adama from improving his position.

Alan is working for a submission of some sort.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Adama is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Alan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Alan is keen to just control but Adama is a slippery customer.
Alan wants to pass to mount but Adama is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Alan dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Adama gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Alan counters with a stiff right hand.

Adama closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Adama lands in his opponent's guard.
Adama with a flurry of punches that miss.

Alan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Adama looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Adama slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Adama is breathing heavily.

Alan gets back to half guard.
Adama is looking to advance position but Alan won't allow it.
Adama thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Adama sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Alan defending well though.
Adama throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Adama is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alan gets full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Adama is posturing up here but Alan has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Adama tries to roll out but it's too tight and Adama has to tap! Slick submission there by Alan!
