PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Terry Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vick Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Terry Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vick Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva misses with a wild body shot.
Silva looks to land a combination but Armstrong avoids it well.
Silva misses with a hook. Armstrong ducked under it nicely.
Silva throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Silva throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Armstrong counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Silva is breathing heavily.
Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Armstrong circles away quickly and effectively.
Armstrong throws a shot from downtown. Silva moves away and avoids it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Armstrong. That's going to slow Silva down.

Silva looks to land a right hand but Armstrong moved out of range.
Armstrong throws an overhand right that lands on Silva's shoulder, as Silva tries to avoid the shot.
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Silva parries the strikes from Armstrong easily there. Armstrong is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Silva to escape.
Armstrong has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee asks Armstrong politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Armstrong prefers to stall for the moment though.

Silva is trying to control Armstrong's posture but Armstrong avoids it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Armstrong creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Silva sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Silva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Armstrong asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well Armstrong has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
