The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akari closes this distance looking for a takedown but Elorde circles away.
Elorde lands a jab-cross combination.

It looks like Dan Akari has been cut.
Akari fails with a takedown attempt.
Elorde throws a series of punches but Akari avoids them all with ease.
Elorde throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Flash Elorde has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Akari.

Elorde rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Akari moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
No joy there for Elorde, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Elorde lands with a kick to the temple. Akari shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Akari is trying desperately to land a takedown but Elorde is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Akari.

Elorde lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Elorde.
Elorde throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Akari's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Elorde dives in looking to finish as Akari flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Elorde's strikes! Elorde is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Akari's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Akari was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
