The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gutierrez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maybry's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Maybry is trying to control the position but Gutierrez postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gutierrez is stalling in the full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Aaron Gutierrez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Maybry moves out of range of the body kick.

Gutierrez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Maybry to the mat! Maybry manages to get full guard.
Maybry controls Gutierrez momentarily but Gutierrez frees himself.
Gutierrez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Maybry is trying to keep Gutierrez in close.
Gutierrez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maybry's guard.
Maybry tries to roll over but Gutierrez keeps him under control.

Maybry is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gutierrez scores with a couple of nice shots.

Maybry has hold of Gutierrez's hands but Gutierrez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Gutierrez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Maybry wants to control but Gutierrez is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Gutierrez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Maybry avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Maybry shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gutierrez sprawls well. Gutierrez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Maybry gets slowly back to his feet.

Maybry tries to break the clinch but Gutierrez is controlling the position.

Maybry has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gutierrez uses from the top position.

Gutierrez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maybry. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gutierrez won't enjoy being in this position. Maybry looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Gutierrez is tapping - it's over boys! Maybry picks up the submission victory!
