The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slain throws a right and a left that Velasquez avoids nicely.
Velasquez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Billy Slain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slain fails with an attempt to clinch.
Slain throws a poor cross that misses
and Velasquez counters with a head kick. That will keep Slain thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Velasquez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Velasquez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Slain at a distance.
Sloppy strikes from Slain. Those never looked like landing.
Slain dodges the punch combination from Velasquez.
Velasquez moves forwards but Slain connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Slain fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Slain fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Velasquez, pushing him back against the cage.

Velasquez breaks from the clinch.
A left and a right from Velasquez both land. Nice combination.

Velasquez thumps Slain with a low kick.

Velasquez ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Velasquez scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Velasquez lands a big head kick that sends Slain tumbling to the mat! Velasquez takes a step backwards and waves Slain back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Slain is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Slain tries to clinch up.
Velasquez fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Slain on the side of the head.
Some wild striking there from Slain.
Slain takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Slain doesn't manage to clinch there - Velasquez circles away.
Slain moves to clinch but Velasquez breaks away

and Velasquez counters with a crisp one two that drops Slain! Velasquez thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Slain to his feet! Slain is in big trouble!
Slain is still on wobbly legs! Can Velasquez finish him?
Slain looks gassed!

Slain closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Velasquez breaks the clinch.
Velasquez lands a nice looking kick to the body. Slain takes a step back to recover.
Slain closes the distance looking to clinch

and Velasquez counters with a nice right hand that sends Slain toppling to the canvas! Slain scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Velasquez finish him?!
Velasquez lands a slapping body shot.
Slain tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Velasquez counters with a nice kick to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slain gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Velasquez.
Velasquez looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Velasquez backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Slain's temple! It sends Slain violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Velasquez celebrates and the doctors try to help Slain!
