The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Holmes cracks Castle with an open hand slap.
Holmes leaves Castle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Holmes scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

It looks like Joe Castle has been cut.
Castle looks to land a combination but Holmes avoids it well.

Holmes closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Castle to the mat! Castle manages to get full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Holmes is pulling down on Castle's head. It's preventing any offense from Castle, at least for the moment.
Castle wants to control from the top but Holmes keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Holmes cracks Castle with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Castle throws a head kick that misses.

Castle scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Holmes keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jon Holmes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Castle gets caught napping as Holmes dives in and scores a takedown. Castle manages to retain guard.

Holmes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Castle's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holmes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Holmes working over Castle with some ground and pound. Castle looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Holmes feints a jab promting Castle to slip. Holmes then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Castle slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Castle doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Holmes sends Castle crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Holmes is motioning to the referee to let Castle up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Castle gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Holmes gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
