PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunner Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Silva might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Like a Boss. Derrick Silva has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a head kick that misses.
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Lee dives in and scores a takedown into Silva's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lee wants to stand but Silva has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lee trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.
Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lee has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.

Lee postures up and lands a big shot to Silva's brow.

Lee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lee controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gunner Lee hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lee gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Silva down.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Silva is trying to improve his position.

Lee content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lee thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Lee throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Silva works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lee wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.

A close round but Gunner Lee will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
