Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Z (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomi comes to the cage accompanied by Scary. Z has chosen New York as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi with a hook.
A swing and a miss from Gomi.
A jab lands there for Gomi.
Z ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Z jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Z bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Z throws a hook but Gomi avoids it easily.
Gomi connects with a solid leg kick.
Gomi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Z looks to score with a jab to the body but Gomi is just out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Z throws a lazy right hand but Gomi sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Z has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Gomi.

Gomi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Z circles away quickly and effectively.

Gomi thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Z if he has to take too many more of those.

Z thows a body shot but no joy.

Takanori Gomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomi throws a hook to the side of Z's head but Z sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gomi bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Z's head backwards.
Z misses the body punch

and Gomi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Z won't be happy with that.

Gomi tries to advance to mount but Z denies him.
Gomi is trying to ground and pound but Z uses the momentary lack of control by Gomi to regain half guard.
Gomi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gomi lands a nice short elbow.
Gomi wants to free his trapped foot but Z is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Z makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Z.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Z wants to sweep here but Gomi controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gomi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gomi wants to control from the top but Z keeps moving.
Gomi is in close to Z's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Z is trying to keep Gomi in close.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Z had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gomi defends it easily.
Gomi wants to pass the guard but Z is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Gomi tries to bum rush Z with a series of wild strikes but Z uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gomi.
Z ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

A telegraphed right hand from Z misses the target.

Z throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Z pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Z connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gomi. Gomi circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Z tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gomi was well out of range. Poor timing from Z.
Z dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Gomi scores with a crisp jab that stopped Z in his tracks.
Gomi throws a nice inside leg kick.
Gomi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Gomi scores with the left hand. Z knows he should have avoided that one.
Z catches Gomi with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Gomi is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Z throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

It looks like Jay Z has been cut.

Z is still on wobbly legs! Can Gomi finish him?

and Gomi comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Z stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Gomi is on him like rabid pit bull! Z slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!
