The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia with a lazy takedown attempt
and Karlsson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Maia won't be happy with that.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Karlsson trying to control the position but Maia is working away.
Maia tries to buck Karlsson off but Karlsson is having none of it.
Karlsson stands up.
Maia misses with a takedown attempt
and Karlsson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Maia's guard now.
Karlsson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
