PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mystikal Jericho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Nolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ian Nolan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mystikal Jericho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ian Nolan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nolan shoots in for a takedown but Jericho shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jericho throws a combination that misses
enabling Nolan to counter with a crisp jab.
Nolan shoots in but Jericho avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jericho misses with a wild body shot.

Nolan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jericho rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nolan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Nolan shoots in looking for a takedown. Jericho tries to sprawl out of it but Nolan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jericho manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nolan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jericho sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nolan somewhat.

Mystikal Jericho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ian Nolan.

Sloppy strikes from Nolan. Those never looked like landing.
Nolan pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jericho back to the cage. Nolan follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Nolan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Nolan is looking to take a break and control but Jericho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Nolan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jericho, who protects the arm well.
Jericho is working to avoid the ground and pound but Nolan connects with a decent elbow.

Ian Nolan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

No joy there for Nolan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jericho avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Mystikal Jericho is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jericho gets caught napping as Nolan dives in and scores a takedown. Jericho manages to retain guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nolan throws a series of strikes that have Jericho backpedaling.

Mystikal Jericho has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ian Nolan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Nolan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
