The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Neponen.

It looks like Pekka Halme has been cut.
Neponen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Halme slips a jab and a cross from Neponen.
Halme misses with a wild body shot.
Neponen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Halme.
Neponen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Halme tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Neponen paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Neponen thuds his shin into the meat of Halme's side.

Neponen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Halme's calf.
Halme takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Halme tries to close the distance and clinch up but Neponen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sloppy strikes from Neponen. Those never looked like landing.

Neponen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Halme manages to avoid it.
A nice combination there by Neponen.
Neponen throws a series of punches but Halme moves out of range.
Neponen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Halme tries a head kick but it misses.
Halme tries to clinch but Neponen is having none of it.

and Neponen makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Halme really felt that one!
A left and a right from Neponen both land. Nice combination.

Halme is rocked!

and Neponen scores with a counter punch that sends Halme to the canvas! Neponen smells blood - he's punishing Halme with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Halme has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Tommi Neponen got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
