PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dante Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parker has chosen Bong Tokin Alcoholics-KottonmouthKings as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dante Cartwright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Parker!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parker closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cartwright's guard.
Parker stops Cartwright from standing up.
Parker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cartwright swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cartwright on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cartwright tries to get out of the position.
Cartwright is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parker is controlling him.
Parker wants to control from the top but Cartwright keeps moving.
Parker controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Parker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cartwright's guard.
Parker with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Parker is looking for a kimura here.

Parker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cartwright is just riding it out for now. Parker eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Parker is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cartwright to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cartwright shrugs it off.
Parker won't let Cartwright get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Parker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cartwright can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Parker has control of Cartwright's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cartwright regains control of the situation pretty easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Parker seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Cartwright is holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Cartwright shoots in for a double leg but Parker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Parker has control of Cartwright's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cartwright regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cartwright's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
