The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez looks to score with a jab to the body but Sherk is just out of range.

Sherk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mendez sprawls well initially but Sherk persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Sherk is nestled in close to Mendez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
