Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jefferson Dillaway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steven James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jefferson Dillaway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steven James!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dillaway circles away from the clinch attempt

and Dillaway counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dillaway accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

James looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dillaway is one step ahead there.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jefferson Dillaway wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Dillaway changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Dillaway manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Steven James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Dillaway manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
James closes the distance but Dillaway moves to the side

and Dillaway counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for James!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James is squirming around, avoiding Dillaway's attempts to control the action.

James is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dillaway postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dillaway doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dillaway manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James looks gassed!
Dillaway lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



James gets tackled into the cage by Dillaway. Dillaway maintains the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dillaway connects with a nice short shot to James's temple.
James wants to get back to his feet.

Dillaway is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and James defends it well.

Dillaway is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


James stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and James wants it to stay on the feet.
James tries to clinch but Dillaway is having none of it.

Dillaway closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. Dillaway pushes James against the cage but James circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dillaway tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dillaway somewhat.

Dillaway jumps guard but James turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. James obliges.

Dillaway goes for a takedown attempt but James pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
James fails in his attempt to clinch.

Dillaway jumps guard but James stands there with Dillaway around his waist. Dillaway gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The referee is keeping an eye on Dillaway - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Steven James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jefferson Dillaway.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dillaway, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
