Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rex Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinn has chosen BRANDED by Faces Of Mars as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rex Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dan Quinn!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Quinn sprawls well initially but Williams persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Williams is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Williams decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Quinn shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Quinn is trying to control the action in half guard but Williams is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Williams makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Williams.
Quinn tries to stand but Williams is controlling from the bottom.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Quinn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Williams manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Quinn is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Quinn is squirming around, avoiding Williams's attempts to control the action.
Williams fails to take his opponent's back.
Quinn is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quinn sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Quinn is not content to let Williams control the position.

Williams wants to work for an arm triangle but Quinn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Quinn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Quinn is looking to stand up but Williams isn't so interested in that idea.
Williams advances to half guard.
Williams is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Williams can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Quinn is looking to escape.
Quinn keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Williams is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Quinn has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Williams stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Quinn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Quinn scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Williams is looking to regain half guard here but Quinn keeps moving and retains side control.
Williams manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Quinn stops Williams from getting back to his feet.

Quinn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Quinn is trying hard to land a takedown here. Williams sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Quinn darts in and clinches Williams up against the cage.
Quinn tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Quinn gets control of Williams's arms and successfully pulls guard. Quinn will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Williams stands and steps away. Quinn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Williams is defended easily by Quinn.

Quinn has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Williams after a bit of a struggle.
Rex Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Quinn.

The fight stays on the outside here - Quinn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Williams will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Dan Quinn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Williams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Quinn walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Williams looks to land a combination but Quinn avoids it well.

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown. Quinn fights it but they end up in guard.

Williams wants to control from the top but Quinn keeps moving.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Quinn wants to sweep but no luck.

Quinn had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Williams defends it easily.

Williams avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Williams gets to his feet - Quinn follows without any prompting.
Quinn tries to move into range but Williams moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rex Williams will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Williams lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Quinn!

Williams jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Quinn is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Quinn and Williams has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Quinn tries to buck Williams off but Williams is having none of it.

Quinn is trying to control Williams's posture but Williams avoids it.

Williams decides to stand back up.
Quinn dodges the punch combination from Williams.
Williams looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Quinn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Williams avoids it really well and circles away.
No luck for Quinn with that takedown attempt.

Rex Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Quinn.

Quinn has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Williams uses from the top position.

Quinn is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Williams to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Williams shrugs it off.

Williams swats away the attempt to clinch by Quinn.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Williams.
Quinn tries for a takedown but Williams circles away easily
and Williams counters with a three punch combo that has Quinn backing up. Quinn nods at Williams to acknowledge the strikes.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I think Williams has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
