PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eza Nahka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shin Sato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sato has chosen Thunderstruck as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Shin Sato enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eza Nahka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shin Sato!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nahka scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Nahka is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sato knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Sato is trying to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nahka tries to advance to mount but can't.
You can see the frustration on Sato's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Nahka working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Sato wants to control but Nahka postures up.

Nahka goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sato rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nahka's guard! Nice work there by Sato!
Sato wants to stand but Nahka has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sato stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nahka swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nahka avoids the head kick by Sato.
Nahka shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sato pinned against the cage. Sato gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nahka shoots in but Sato avoids the takedown attempt easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sato swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Nahka.
Sato pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sato throws a head kick that misses.
Nahka slips a jab from Sato.
Nahka closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sato circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eza Nahka. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That was a close round but I would say that Eza Nahka will probably get the nod.

Sato tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Nahka shoots in and bounces Sato off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Nahka drops back looking for a leg! Sato is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sato manages to kick Nahka off! Nahka jumps back into Sato's guard.
Sato wants to stand but Nahka is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nahka passes into half guard.

Nahka is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sato defends it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nahka tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sato knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Sato looks like he's trying to stand up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sato wants to get back to his feet but Nahka is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sato preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sato is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Nahka thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Sato wants to stand up but Nahka is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nahka avoids the head kick by Sato.
Sato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nahka feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nahka drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sato manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nahka has Sato in his guard.

Sato decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nahka, up you get!

Sato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nahka closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sato to the mat! Sato manages to get full guard.
Nahka forces his way into half guard.

Nahka is looking for a kimura but Sato is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nahka to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eza Nahka dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Sato throws a sloppy head kick and Nahka moves out of range easily.

Nahka rushes Sato and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Nahka here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Sato breaks the clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nahka.

Sato should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sato is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Sato decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Shin Sato has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
No luck for Nahka with that takedown attempt.
Nahka blocks a head kick by Sato.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Sato, as that shot connected.
Sato lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Nahka feints and as Sato raises his hands in defense, Nahka changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sato pulls Nahka in close to his closed guard and prevents Nahka from doing any damage or advancing position.
Sato striking off his back but it's not causing Nahka any problems.
Sato is looking to stand up but Nahka isn't so interested in that idea.
Nahka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sato swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Shin Sato.
I think Nahka has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
