Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mario Martini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darius Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Darius Jones enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Martini!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darius Jones!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Martini misses.
Martini fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
Martini tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Martini missing with a left hand there. Jones was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Martini darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones is trying to control but can't.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Martini is working for a kimura here but Jones manages to reverse the position and he's now in Martini's guard.
Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jones scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Jones stands and steps away. Martini gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Martini counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Jones is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Martini counters with a low kick, right behind Jones 's knee.

and Martini counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.
Jones is looking to sweep but instead, Martini has passed into half guard.
Jones is trying to control but can't.
Martini looks to land a strike but Jones avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Jones is trying to hold Martini in close to prevent damage but Martini has managed to pass into half guard.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Martini has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones is not content to let Martini control the position.
Martini is looking to advance position but Jones won't allow it.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Martini is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jones trying to control but Martini postures up.
Jones looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jones misses with a double jab
and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Jones swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Martini counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Martini pushes him off.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Martini.
Martini working the head with strikes.
Martini tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jones's legs.
Martini trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.

Martini thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mario Martini dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jones throws a combination that misses
and Martini counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Martini scores with a hook.
Martini throws out a powerful jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Martini.
Martini shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jones rushes Martini and presses him up against the cage.
Martini tries for a takedown but Jones manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Martini. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones has Martini pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Martini manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Jones scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A punch combination from Martini misses.
Jones slow jab from Martini misses its intended target.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Martini shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily.

and Martini counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jones's guard now.

Jones wants to sweep but no luck.
Martini trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Martini puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Martini uses his free foot to push down on Jones's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones.
Jones wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Martini is cranking Jones's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Jones! He's tightened the choke and Jones is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mario Martini!
